Welcome Back!
Welcome back to what has been a brilliant start to the 2026 school year. It's been fantastic to see our students settle back into their learning routines with such enthusiasm and focus. We can feel the positive energy around our school.
A special welcome to our new families joining our community this year. We're delighted to have you with us and look forward to getting to know you and your children. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions as you settle in.
As we look ahead to the coming weeks, I'd like to draw your attention to several important events:
- Parent-Teacher Interviews (week 5) - an opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and discuss their progress
- School Fete (March 20) - we look forward to seeing everyone at this wonderful community event
- Swimming Program Grades 1-6 - details to follow shortly

Welcome to Country
At our first assembly of the year, we were privileged to have Wurundjeri elder Uncle Perry perform a Welcome to Country ceremony. Uncle Perry shared stories with our school community, connecting us to the land on which we learn and gather. This meaningful ceremony marks an important step in our ongoing reconciliation journey, helping us to acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians of this land and deepen our understanding of Aboriginal culture and history. We're grateful to Uncle Perry for his time and wisdom. If you are interested in supporting the school in this work, contact our office about joining our community RAP, we would welcome your support.
Yellow Park Playground Upgrade
We're excited to announce that construction of the Yellow Park Playground will commence on February 18, with completion anticipated by March 3.
This project is the result of the efforts of many across our school community. The design was developed through student consultation led by our Junior School Council last year, and funding was made possible by the generous efforts of our Parents and Friends Committee through events including the school fete and trivia night.
Please note that the shade sail on the Sheffield Street side of the school has been temporarily removed to allow truck access to the construction site. We appreciate your patience during this brief construction period.
We look forward to seeing our students enjoy this fantastic new space soon!
Sensory Garden
You may have noticed a positive change in our yard over the Summer break, the development of our new sensory garden. The former vegetable garden is now a gorgeous space where students can interact with nature, care for the plants and watch them grow. Gardening projects like this one have a significant impact on student wellbeing, assisting with emotional regulation and creating a sense of wonder at the natural world.
This space was developed by one of our very generous BNPS families, who worked tirelessly over the Summer to enhance this space for all of us to enjoy.
