VCE VM First Aid Traning

The VCE VM have had a very busy start to 2026, completing their First Aid Training courses and receiving their certificates. Students in the two year 11 classes had the opportunity to attend school for an incursion and in doing so were able to complete First aid training.

The session covered key areas including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), managing bleeding and wounds, treating burns, responding to asthma and anaphylaxis, and placing a casualty in the recovery position. Students also learned how to assess a situation using the DRSABCD action plan, ensuring they can act quickly, calmly and safely in an emergency.

Throughout the training, students practised skills using mannequins and simulated scenarios, helping to build both competence and confidence. The importance of workplace and community safety was strongly emphasised, highlighting how first aid knowledge can make a significant difference while waiting for professional medical assistance to arrive.

By the end of the session, students left feeling more prepared, informed and capable of responding to a range of emergency situations. First aid training not only builds practical skills but also strengthens our community by ensuring more people are ready to step in and help when it matters most.
