Homesteader Day & Meet the Teachers BBQ

Year 10 Homesteader Day - Wednesday 28th January
Year 10s started the year with an induction into what it means to be a Homesteader. From receiving lockers and diaries to learning what it means to be a Digital Homesteader, students engaged in workshops designed specifically for them to help them “survive and thrive” in their new adult learning environment. There were plenty of smiles and questions all round, and we are excited to see what the year holds for our newest Homesteader recruits.
Both teachers and students appreciated the opportunity to meet each other and help the Year 10s settle into their new surroundings before we hit the ground running with the rest of the school year. We received incredible feedback from both students and teachers including the following:
One thing I enjoyed about today was…
- Being reunited with friends
- Meeting teachers
- Getting a locker
What did you feel was a success of today?
- Expectations were clear
- Assembly and classes were enjoyable
- Receiving practical resources such as diary and booklet
- The structure of the day with various components about being a Homesteader.
A big thank-you to everyone who helped build the program and all those who took sessions and provided feedback! A huge shout out to our wonderful student leaders who came in on their last day of holidays to help welcome our Year 10s and provide information and support from a student perspective.
We look forward to further developing the program as we continue to grow, helping our Year 10s become true Homesteaders!

Meet and Greet BBQ - Tuesday 3rd February
On Tuesday the 3rd of February, we welcomed our community in with a Meet and Greet BBQ. This was a wonderful opportunity for Homestead staff to get to know our new families and reconnect with parents and carers we have known for many years.
The afternoon was enjoyed by all with a sausage in bread and soft drink in hand, accompanying positive conversations and reinforcement of the shared partnership between home and school.
Thank-you to everyone who attended and helped make the even such a success. We hope to see you back next year!
