Prayer Room Access

At Homestead Senior Secondary College, we are proud to be an inclusive and diverse learning community that respects and values the cultural and religious beliefs of all students. We recognise the importance of prayer and religious observance and are committed to providing a space for students to practice their faith respectfully and responsibly.
To ensure the privilege of a dedicated space is used appropriately, the college has an agreement with students of all faiths, who choose to use it.
We have developed a Prayer Room Access Agreement, in conjunction with student voice, to ensure that students can continue using these spaces in a respectful and responsible manner. This access agreement is available on Compass and must be signed by the student and parents so that there is an agreement on the expected behaviours when preparing for prayer, during and after prayer.
Students who return the prayer room access agreement will be issued a pass to use the areas required.
If students for families have any questions relating to prayer rooms or prayer room access, please see Bec Collins or Lauren Romanczukiewicz in the Wellbeing team.
The Student Representative who works with the College on managing the Prayer Space is Jazzi Naseem of Year 11. Students who have questions or feedback about the Prayer Room or the agreement, please let him know.
We also now have Muhammad Maaz as our Cultural and Diversity Leader. Muhammad will be attending the monthly Student Voice Consultative Meetings and can bring ideas to this meetings on behalf of all students, so please let Muhammad know if you have any questions, feedback, suggestions or ideas.
Please also free to reach out to Bec Collins if you have any questions
related to the Prayer Room. Email: Bec.Collins@education.vic.gov.au
