Student Leadership
Every day matters
Congratulations to all of our student leaders. This year, we have been inundated with applications and it has made the hard job of appointing students to positions even more difficult. We could not be happier with the appointments below.
College Captain Introductions to the Community
We are proud to announce to the HSSC Communith that our College Captains are Mahlaqa Shah & Benjamin Borg.

My name is Benjamin Borg, and it is a privilege to serve as School Captain of Homestead Senior Secondary College for 2026. I am incredibly proud to represent a school that is driven by excellence and opportunity. Since stepping into this role, I have been inspired by the dedication of students, commitment of staff, and the support of our families. Together, we are building a culture where every student is encouraged to strive for their personal best while contributing positively to the school community.
As School Captain, my primary focus is on strengthening student voice, fostering school spirit, and ensuring every student feels valued. I am passionate about creating opportunities, encouraging collaboration across year levels, and upholding the high standards that define our college. I look forward to working closely with the leadership team, teachers, and families throughout the year to continue making our school a place where students are empowered to succeed both academically and personally.
My name is Mahlaqa Shah and I am truly honoured (and very excited!) to be serving as one of Homestead’s 2026 College Captains. Over my time at Homestead, I’ve seen how much heart, energy and potential our school community holds. It’s a place where students are encouraged to grow, step outside their comfort zones and find their own strengths. I feel incredibly grateful to represent such a diverse and driven cohort, and I’m so proud to call Homestead my school.
This year, I’m looking forward to working alongside our amazing staff, families and students to help create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels heard and valued. High school can be challenging, but it’s also a time full of opportunity, friendships and unforgettable memories. Whether students are pursuing VCE, VM or exploring different pathways, I hope to encourage them to approach their journey with confidence and excitement. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together in 2026!"

Student Voice Leaders

We are proud to introduce to the Community our new Head of Student Voice Leaders and our Cultural and Diversity Leader.
Anvi and Shreyansh (featured middle and right) will be taking on our Head of Student Voice roles. They both demonstrated strengths in being advocates for the student body during their interviews and so we think they will both be excellent leaders in this space.
Their first report will be in the next edition of the newsletter.
Muhammad (pictured left) spoke passionately about diversity and inclusion during his interview and for that reason he was the perfect choice for our Cultural and Diversity leader role. Muhammad will take a key role in helping to develop our annual Cultural Day celebration and so we encourage all students to have a chat with him about their ideas.
