Year 10 News

The Importance of Effort in Year 10
At a recent school gathering, students were reminded of the important role Year 10 plays in preparing for the future. While many students may feel that the pressure of senior school is still far away, the message was clear: the habits and effort developed now will strongly influence success in Years 11 and 12.
Mr Dang focused on the idea that Year 10 is more than just another school year — it is the foundation for the senior years ahead. Students were encouraged to think about the way they manage their time, approach challenges, and stay consistent with their studies. According to Mr Dang, these habits do not suddenly appear in Year 11; they are built gradually through everyday effort and responsibility.
One of the key points discussed was the importance of consistency. Success in senior school is not simply determined by intelligence or natural talent, but by the willingness to work hard even when motivation is low. Students were reminded that leaving tasks until the last minute or avoiding difficult work can create habits that become much harder to break later on.
Mr Dang also highlighted how Year 10 can be seen as an investment in the future. Every assignment completed on time, every study session, and every challenge faced now helps students build confidence and discipline for the demanding years ahead. By developing strong routines early, students can enter Year 11 feeling prepared rather than overwhelmed.
Importantly, the message extended beyond academic results. Students were encouraged to recognise that effort creates opportunities. Whether students aim for university, vocational training, apprenticeships, or future careers, the work they put in now can open doors and provide greater choices later in life.
Mr Dang challenged all Year 10 students to take the year seriously — not by expecting perfection, but by staying organised, setting goals, and asking for help when needed. Small but consistent effort, they explained, can make a significant difference over time.
Mr Dang concluded with a powerful reminder: the effort students make in Year 10 does not stay in Year 10. Instead, it becomes the reason they succeed in Years 11 and 12, and beyond.
