Principal's Message
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term Two. I hope you were able to enjoy some quality family time over the Easter break and the ANZAC Day long weekend. It has been wonderful to see the children return with such enthusiasm, they have settled back into their classroom routines beautifully.
Term Two is always a busy and exciting part of our school year. We have a number of community events planned, along with student reports and parent–teacher interviews towards the end of the term. We look forward to your involvement and hope to see you at as many of these occasions as possible.
Parish Administrator
As you will be aware and may have now met him, we have a new parish administrator, Fr Adrian Simmons. I have copied below the message sent in the Parish Bulletin from Fr John on 12th April:
My dear people today I am introducing a new priest to you, Fr Adrian Simmons who will be the Administrator of the parish commencing today. Fr Adrian will be temporary and will look after the parish until a permanent priest becomes available. Very soon I will be moving from Miranda. As you know I have not been one hundred percent well and I am looking forward to a good rest. The Archbishop wishes that I have a good retirement so he is helping me have an early break. Fr John
We warmly welcome Fr Adrian and wish Fr John all the very best moving forward. When the time is right, we will farewell Fr John before he leaves as he has been instrumental in the OLSS Parish over the last twelve years.
Mothers Day
Next weekend we celebrate Mother’s Day, a special moment in our year to honour the incredible women who nurture, guide and support our children each day. Whether it’s our mums, grandmothers, aunties, carers, or the many mother figures who step into that role with love, this is a time to recognise the profound impact they have on our families and our school community.
Mother’s Day invites us to pause and appreciate the countless ways these remarkable women show patience, strength, compassion and joy. Their example helps shape the hearts and minds of our young people, and we are deeply grateful for the love they pour into their children and into our school.
We wish all our mums and mother figures a very special and joy filled Mother’s Day next weekend. May it be a time of rest, celebration and feeling truly appreciated.
We have our Mother’s Day stall next Thursday 7th followed by our Mother’s Day Breakfast next Friday morning at 7:30am. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible.
Mrs Fairhall Leave
As previously communicated, Mrs Fairhall will be on leave from Thursday 30 April to Tuesday 26 May. During her absence, Mrs Lennon will be taking on the role of Acting Assistant Principal. We are pleased to have Mrs Lennon step into this position and thank her for her support and leadership during this time. We wish Mrs Fairhall all the very best on a well deserved break.
School Uniforms (including haircuts) - as per the Parent Handbook
As we begin term two, this is a timely reminder of our school uniform policy (including haircuts):
All students are to wear the correct school uniform, including the correct shoes, socks and hair bands/ribbons. On designated sports days, students are to wear the correct sports uniform. Joggers are to be worn only on sports days. Hats are to be worn at all times when outdoors.
Boys’ hair should: be clean, neat and above the collar; be of its natural colour; be free from extremes of length or fashion; be free from undercuts, scalp designs, rat tails or number one blades.
Girls’ hair should: be clean and neat; be of its natural colour; be free from extremes of fashion; be kept tied back once it reaches shoulder length. Hair ribbons, headbands, scrunchies, clips etc. must match the uniform colours ie blue.
Hairstyles should reflect the fact that our students attend a Primary School. Hair should be neat and tidy at all times. Trendy hairstyles such as Mohawks, Mullets, shaving and colouring and steps are not permitted.
I thank you in advance for following our uniform policy. It is much easier to adhere when we work in partnership.
God Bless,
Mr Marcel Arendse
