Wellbeing

Lifeskills

Our Lifeskills program is officially up and running and it's proving to be a wonderful success across the school.

Our Senior students have been busy in the kitchen, preparing a variety of delicious slices that are quickly selling out. Not only are they building practical cooking skills but they are also gaining confidence, teamwork experience, and a real sense of pride in their work.  It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and the positive response from the staff supporting the program.

Meanwhile our Prep - Year 4 group are thoroughly enjoying their dedicated hour each day.  They are engaging in a range of hands-on activities that support independence, creativity and every-day skill and social development.

Project You - Girls

This term we started a new weekly session called, Project You – Girls. This is a school-based wellbeing program designed to educate, develop, grow, and empower young girls. The program supports participants in building confidence, improving physical and mental health, and making safe, informed life choices. We hope that by participating in this program, students will:

  • improve positive behaviours and self-belief
  • be encouraged to live a healthy, active lifestyle
  • develop better supports for mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • develop self-awareness and confidence
  • be empowered to make safe and informed decisions
  • improve overall fitness and wellbeing

So far this term the girls have explored the gym, enjoying the treadmills and exercise bikes. They have also participated in a local ride to the Kyabram Fauna Park, which saw them work up a sweat.

This week we slowed things down and bit by doing a yoga and meditation session with Mrs Kelley, followed by enjoying healthy banana smoothies.

The group of Year 5-7 girls have been great to work with, they have had a go at everything, showed school values along the way and most of all exploring a range of ways to physically and emotionally health and wellbeing.

We will be running a Term 3 group for any girls interested in participating in Years 5, 6 and 7. Please notify your child's learning community leader, or classroom teacher, if you have a student who might like to be involved.
