WELCOME TERM 2!
The College Resource Library has enjoyed a positive start to Term 2, with students returning to library borrowing classes and continuing to build strong reading habits. This term, we have taken time to reflect and learn through ANZAC Day, and we look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day with our students and community.
We are also pleased to welcome our Term 2 Library Monitors, who are already making a valuable contribution to the smooth running of the library.
Looking ahead, we are excited for upcoming events including Inclusion and Diversity Day, Education Week, and National Simultaneous Storytime. Our lunchtime clubs continue to run, offering students opportunities for creativity, connection, and enjoyment in the library space.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB - Due Fri May 8
The third issue of Scholastic Book Club is due for return this week! If you wish to put in an order, please ensure that it is submitted as soon as possible.
Catalogues are provided to classroom teachers (Year P-6), the College Library (Algabonya), the main office (Dungala), and the Fischer building.
MOTHERS DAY IN THE LIBRARY
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and the library has showcased some wonderful books and activities on offer! Students browsed our storytime collection during their library classes, enjoying nostalgic stories with heartfelt messages. We also had a fantastic time at Creators Club, where students created a special gift for Mum—a beautiful bouquet card.
TERM 2 LIBRARY MONITORS
The College Resource Library would like to announce our Term 2 Library Monitors, congratulations to Ashala, Milla and Aylah. We look forward to working together with these students this term.
This program is facilitated by library staff and gives students from Grade 3 to Year 12 an opportunity at an extracurricular leadership role within the college. Library Monitors are responsible for a range of roles within the library space, including shelving books, keeping the space tidy, assisting with displays, brainstorming new programs with staff, and so much more.

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME - COMING SOON
The College Resource Library is excited to once again take part in National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, a nationwide event coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) that celebrates reading and shared storytelling across Australia. This year’s featured text, Luna Roo, is a heart-warming underdog story that explores themes of determination, teamwork, and strong sense of self-belief. In the library, we look forward to celebrating throughout the week with themed displays, engaging activities, and a special P-2 storytime session on the day. We can’t wait to share this special story with our students and continue fostering a love of reading across our college community.
