Principal News

Dear Marian Catholic College Community,
Congratulations to Matthew Segrave (Creative Arts), Lucia Dickie, Katherine Hannon (Hospitality), and all of the students involved in the magnificent Cabaret: Rewind to the 90’s!
There were so many star performers, musicians, chefs, dancers, MC’s, with students
performing, singing, playing, cooking, serving, MCing or backstage managing. This was a wonderful experience all round!
Supporting and providing absolutely vital talent and support either up front or behind the scenes, were other members of the CAPA, Hospitality, TAS, Teachers performing and teachers supporting, Administration, school support staff, IT, Maintenance and Leadership teams. Special mention needs to go to Jesse Aviu, Lara Calabria, Alison Carlile, Ashton Taylor, Sophie Bozic and Maddie Ponferrada. Also incredibly supportive were the musicians, sound and lighting services and other support from members of the community assisting on the occasion.
We thank and acknowledge Mark and Joseph Macedone, Vince and Maddison Bucello, Michael Pfitzner, Glenn Baretop, Yarran Wines and MIA Hire for their generous support and talent in Sound and Lighting, Music and Filming, Wine sponsorship and Hospitality support.
We also thank special guests attending the Friday night dinner and show: Deputy Mayor Scott Groat and his lovely wife, Fr Joseph and Fr Paul, Ms Eva Tarchichi (SPS) and Ms Annette Reginato and Marie Salvestro (SMY). Thank you to all parents, family and members of the community who purchased tickets and supported the school and all of the students
It was an inspiring, moving, exciting and energising and totally delightful experience! There were many outstanding performances from students (and some surprise staff singers). The student hospitality crew’s catering and service were faultless. It is a great privilege to see the students shine in this way.
Thank you to all involved, for your creativity, hard work, talent and generosity for imagining and preparing this inspiring production that has brought together the College and the very talented and vibrant Griffith community in such a special way.
This fortnight there have been a number of sporting events, programs and triumphs which also need a mention. Students attended BISSA Cross Country with five students progressing to the next level, NRL Country Boys Cup, Interschool Chess and Public Speaking Events. The students playing at the Bill Turner Cup (Boys and Girls) won this round against some outstanding odds, with extra special mention to Joseph Musitano, Rhys Calabria and Gus Ellis for taking the team to victory at the very last minute. The teams and coaches have worked phenomenally-well done!
In Year 10, Thrive Counsellors Karen and Georgia have started delivering the ‘Respectful Relationships ’ program to all Year 10 girls. This important and highly supportive wellbeing and relationship course is being delivered in smaller groups for four sessions each to all Year 10 girls throughout the rest of Term 2.
Tomorrow May 16th is the Feast Day for St Brendan, sixth century Irish saint also known as “The Navigator” and a patron saint for sailors. Brendan House celebrated today with interhouse games and yellow cupcakes for sale at lunchtime and recess. Thank you to Brendan house leaders, Mischa Musitano and Tayla Gee, the league tag teams and senior students and organising teachers Mr Abdala, Mr Matheson and match referee Mr Morris.
