Week 4 & 5, 16th - 28th February 2026

We acknowledge the first peoples of the Kulin Nation, their Dreaming of the past, present and future. We pay our respect for their land by looking after the land we learn and play on.

OSHC has been flat chat getting back into the swing of things and helping our new Foundation students settle in and find their feet with us. We have had 45 Foundation students begin over the course of the first 5 weeks, which is almost a record. Each one going through our Foundation transition program.

They have been active in conversations at the breakfast table, joining in games outside, making new friends with other foundation children and older students as well as adjusting to all the new routines. At this stage Foundation students are still being picked up early from their classrooms to beat the 3:30 rush, however this will slowly taper off from late this week.

Tapering off the early pickup is an important step as they develop their independence and confidence in making their own way up to school and down to OSHC with the other children.

Last Friday was International Love Your Pet Day. We asked our families to send us photos of their furry, feathery, scaly and hairy family members for all to see and celebrate. It has created conversation and excitement as educators, students and their families tell each other all about these beloved family members. Our photo board can be seen near the OSHC sign in/out table each morning and afternoon.

Finally with the renovation of our OSHC veggie patch late last year we were extremely pleased to come back to a garden full produce. Currently growing are apples, figs, tomatoes, spinach, parsley, native thyme, mint and zucchini. Harvesting being half the fun, the zucchini and spinach have been used in a zucchini slice for afternoon tea, while bunches of mint, parsley and spinach have been available for families to take. Families have then gone on to use them in stir fries and pastas for dinner.

Keep an eye out for more produce harvested by our students for you to enjoy.
