Sutherland Captain Niamh
Hi, I’m Niamh and I'm exuberant to say that I am your 2026 Sutherland House Captain.
At school I like maths, writing and P.E. Outside of school I am skilled in basketball, soccer, tennis, acrobatics and swimming. I have 2 cats, 3 chickens and about too many bees. I have a sister in year 11 and a brother in year 8. I grew up in Chile and moved to Australia in 2020 because of Covid 19.
I know that this year Sutherland will win the house cup.
GO SUTHERLAND!!!!!!
Sutherland Captain Jackson
Hi I’m Jackson and I am so excited to be your Sutherland House captain for 2026.
At school I enjoy Writing, Reading, History, Geography, PE and Math.
Outside side of school I play footy, basketball, running, squad swimming and junior surf life- saving at Ocean Grove.
This year I am so thrilled to lead Sutherland to victory.
GO SUTHERLAND!!!
Sutherland Vice Captain Evelyn
Hello school, my name is Evelyn and I will be your Sutherland Vice captain for 2026.
Inside of school I enjoy Science, Reading, and playing soccer. Outside of School I like to Craft, play sport, and pat my dog, Wally.
I know that if we try hard enough Sutherland will win!
Go Sutherland!!
Sutherland Vice Captain Vincent
Greetings, IPS. My name is Vincent, and I am your 2026 Sutherland Vice-Captain.
I would like to start this speech by thanking the teachers for trusting me with this responsibility. I promise I will use this opportunity wisely and give it my best. I am thrilled to lead Sutherland to success, not just in competitions, but also in teamwork, kindness, and respect.
My hobbies inside school are soccer and math, and outside of school are crafting and coding. These hobbies have taught me creativity, persistence, and problem-solving qualities that I will bring to my role. I have a younger brother in Year 4. I have been at this school for more than a year. Even though we don’t win every time, I believe we will win next time. Someone once said failure is planting the seed of success. Every failure builds a step toward success, and setbacks prepare us for victory. And I believe that we will lead ourselves to victory just by doing kind things for ourselves and others.
Go Sutherland, with teamwork we can do dream work.
Year 2 Writing
Students in 2N have been learning to improve their descriptive writing with the use of adjectives. I was amazed with how they have used adjectives to create such an atmosphere that the reader almost feels they are in the picture!
Year 1 Community Walk
The grade 1s went on an exciting Community Walk this morning to kick off their unit of learning all about 'Community'. The students were busy ticking off all of the landmarks in our local community and were also lucky enough to visit the amazing Ivanhoe Library. The grade 1 team is very grateful to the parent helpers who were able to come to assist today!
1L had some things to say about the excursion that they would like to be included in the newsletter:
“ I liked the excursion because it was fun but I got a little but hot!” Freya 1L
“It was hot but fun! The community was beautiful!” Tara 1L
“ I saw a sushi shop and the best bit was going to the Library and hearing a story.” Luca 1L
“ I loved the excursion because we got to see the community and it was a good way to do that lesson!” George 1L
“I liked the excursion because I saw a ginormous bus.” Alfie 1L
“ I liked the excursion because it was fun. We got to see the lovely community.” Ariana 1L
“We loved seeing the Community around us!” Ollie 1L
Year 4 Excursion to Melbourne Museum
A highlight of the week was the Year 4 excursion to the Melbourne Museum.
Students explored fascinating exhibits, engaged with hands-on learning experiences, and deepened their understanding of history, science and culture. Opportunities like these bring classroom learning to life and spark curiosity that extends well beyond the school gates.
