Years 10, 11 and 12 Drama and Drama in Practice students have enjoyed taking part in a range of opportunities this term. In Week 3, they experienced the live performance of the black comedy musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” at Cremorne Theatre, QPAC and in Week 4, the students participated in an inspiring full day incursion with award-winning New Zealand theatre company, “Red Leap” . Through a range of creative approaches, immersive experiences, tools and games, this practical workshop saw students further developing skills that they will be able to take back into the classroom and apply to their future performance work.

During Week 4, Year 11 Visual Art students visited Onespace gallery to view the work of contemporary Brisbane artists, Sebastian Di Mauro and Zoe Porter and QAGOMA to experience the interactive work of contemporary Icelandic-Danish artist, Olafur Eliasson. The highlight of the day was Eliasson’s artwork, “Riverbed” which filled a large section of the gallery and consisted of a rocky landscape through which a stream meandered. It was a favourite with the students as they were able to step into the artwork and find a way to navigate across the rough terrain. The purpose of the excursion was to inform students’ second formative internal assessment.
