Welcome Back to Connect!

Welcome back to another exciting year in Connect! We are so pleased to see our students returning with fresh energy and enthusiasm for the year ahead. Connect is a space where students can feel supported, heard, and empowered as they continue to grow both personally and socially.

Over the next fortnight, our focus will be on building strong connections within our groups. Students will be spending time getting to know one another, developing positive group dynamics, and establishing expectations that promote respect, inclusion, and collaboration. Creating a safe and supportive environment is always our first priority.

We will also be working closely with students to set individual goals for the term. These goals may focus on areas such as emotional regulation, building confidence, strengthening friendships, communication skills, organisation, and engagement in learning. Students will be supported to reflect on their strengths, identify areas they would like to improve, and develop practical strategies to help them achieve their goals. Student voice is central to Connect, and each student will play an active role in shaping their own goals for growth.

This year, students will have opportunities to engage in practical, project-based activities that encourage teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance. Some small scale construction projects will also be taking place throughout the year, allowing students to develop practical skills, work collaboratively, and take pride in creating something tangible from start to finish. These experiences will be carefully supervised and designed to promote safety, responsibility, and confidence.

Looking ahead, we have a wide range of engaging projects and wellbeing focused activities planned, including team building challenges, social skill development workshops, creative projects, and leadership opportunities. Our aim is to provide meaningful experiences that build resilience, independence, and positive peer relationships, while also making Connect an engaging and enjoyable space to be part of.
