Library News

Congratulations to all our students for completing the 2025 Premier's Reading Challenge!
I am so excited to report that every one of our students completed the challenge this year, for the second year in a row. This is a great achievement, and a testament to our love of reading!
We also want to acknowledge the large number of students who received a Gold certificate this year! This award is in recognition of students who have completed the challenge 4 years in a row.
Finally, this year we were able to present our first Platinum Certificate to Lila in Year 6!
A huge congratulations to Lila for completing the challenge 7 times. We are very proud of you Lila, and hope that you continue to develop your love of reading as you enter high school
It's time to return ALL library books
This week will be the final opportunity for students to borrow library books for the year. From next week (Week 9), all library books will need to be returned to allow for end of year processes.
Some students will be bringing home overdue slips for books that are currently outstanding. Shelf checks have already been completed, so if your child has outstanding items it would be greatly appreciated if you could help to find them at home this week, to be returned in Week 9.
As has always been school policy, any lost items incur a $20 replacement fee.
How to keep your children reading over the summer break?
We are so lucky to have a range of free and accessible options for for find things to read and listen to over the Christmas break.
Here are some ideas:
Local Public libraries have a great range of physical, eBooks and audiobooks. If you don't already have a public library card, it's super easy and free to join. Here are the links for the Randwick and Waverley libraries. You even have access to Storybox with a Randwick library membership!

The State Library of NSW is a great place to visit if you're heading in to town for the day, and they often have activities for children over the holidays. At the moment, there is a beautiful exhibition of Pamela Allen's works!

“Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!”
~Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers
Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas,
