Senior School Update

With the support of an amazing teaching team and the education support staff that work with them, the Senior School at Cobram AGA continues to grow as we go from strength to strength.
Throughout 2025, we have watched with keen interest the construction of our Trades Centre, a space that will revolutionise our technology and STEM offerings within the Senior School as we continue to position ourselves as a place of education for all within our community. Under the expert hand of Anthony McConnell, this facility was impeccably presented at many events in Term 4, including our open morning, 25-year celebration and Presentation Day. With classes already using this space, we are uniquely positioned to provide the best STEM and trades education to the Cobram community and beyond.
In recent times, we celebrated the successes and efforts of many of our Senior School students at Presentation Day. The effort and enthusiasm of our students is the lifeblood of our school, giving us all the passion to strive to make a difference. Furthermore, our Year 12 students received their end of schooling results. Regardless of the number you achieved, know that you leave our school having made a significant impact on the community and take forward those lessons learned along the way into your future lives as we wish you all the best for your future.
Finally, it would be remiss of me not to comment on the future growth of the Senior School. We will commence 2026 with two streams of Year 7 and Year 8 students, a testament to the work done by everyone at the school and hopefully a positive sign for our future growth. Within the Senior School, our student enrolments are 22% higher than what they were at the equivalent time last year, which is an amazing achievement for our school. This increase in enrolments has enabled us to bring two new teachers into the Cobram AGS community. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mr Steve Tatnall and Mrs Niki McConnell to the team. I look forward to working with you in 2026.
Merry Christmas to everyone, have a restful break and I look forward to doing it all again in 2026.
John Thompson,
Head of Senior School
VCE Results Land
Cobram Anglican Grammar School (Cobram AGS) is delighted to congratulate the 2025 Year 12 cohort on their exceptional VCE results. This year’s outcomes were excellent, reflecting the dedication, resilience, and positive attitude of our students as they approached their final year of schooling. These impressive results also stand as a testament to the tireless work and unwavering support of our outstanding teaching staff.
Mr Keith said that the teachers have walked alongside each student, providing expert guidance, encouragement, and care throughout their VCE journey. “The partnership between students and staff has once again demonstrated the strength of our school community,” said Mr Willett.
“We are immensely proud of the entire Year 12 group. Every student has demonstrated admirable commitment, and it is pleasing to see them now confidently stepping toward their chosen pathways — whether that be university, employment, or other exciting opportunities. Each student has positioned themselves well for the next stages of life, and we celebrate their achievements with great joy,” Mr Willett added.
On behalf of the school community, Cobram AGS extends its congratulations to the Class of 2025. We wish each graduate continued success and fulfilment as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.
Year 7 Cultural Learning in Wangaratta
Last week, our Year 7 cohort enjoyed a meaningful day of learning in Wangaratta, engaging in rich educational experiences beyond the classroom. Students began their excursion with a peaceful walk along the Bullawah Cultural Trail, where they explored ancient stories, traditional knowledge and the skills of the local Indigenous people.
Following their time on the trail, students visited the Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral for a guided tour of this historic and significant site within our diocese. They were warmly greeted by former School Council Chairperson and long-time friend of the school, Neil Hicks, who currently serves as Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral and Vicar General of the Wangaratta Diocese.
The excursion was a truly enriching day of reflection, cultural immersion and community engagement, providing students with a broader perspective on faith, history and local heritage.
