Congratulations to Rohan Chang, Ollie Freeman, and Archie Wragge and on being selected in the ISA U19 Cricket combined team. Also congratulation to Charlie Chiipendale who was selected as the shadow bolwer for this side.
Saturday 22 November 2025 – ISA Round 5
1st XI 6/165 (Viaan Singh 40, Charlie Chippendale 38 , Archoe Wragge 24, Rohan Chang 20) defeated St Patrick’s College 10/82 (Brody Mendel 5/13, Dan Carrol 4/1, Alex Burke 1/20)
The 1st XI travelled to Strathfield for this highly anticipated clash. Losing the toss and being sent into bat, openers Archie Wragge (24) and Rohan Chang (20) put on 30 for the first wicket. Rain interrupted play and reduced the match to 40 overs each. A solid 50 run partnership form Viaan Singh (40) and Rory Rapa (17) had the 1st XI well placed leading into the final overs. Charlie Chippendale (38) played some expansive shots including 3 fours and 3 sixes to push to total forward. Sensible final overs batting by Ollie Costain (12*) and Miles Moran (2*) saw the 1st XI with a very defendable 165.
Good opening bowling spell from Charlie Chippendale (0/13) and Jack English (0/12) made scoring difficult for SPC. Enter Brody Mendel (5/13) and Dan Carroll (4/1): Dan removing two of the top four batters and Brody quickly taking five wickets. Some great fielding and catching, Charlie Chippendale 3 catches and Jack English 1 catch, had SPC 8/48. Alex Burke claimed a vital wicket and Dan Carroll returned for a second spell to quickly wrap up the final two wickets. A great team win.
2026 SPX Cricket – Australian Scools Cricket Challenge – Brisbane
Over the period 11 to 16 January 2026 the 1st XI will travel to Brisbane and Nudgee College to play in the Australian Schools Cricket Challenge. This carnival involves 25 schools from across Australia and New Zealand. The 1st XI will play matches against St Patrick's College Shorncliffe, Padua College, and Brisbane Boys College with a fourth match to be determined by results of the carnival.
Saturday 29 November 2025 – ISA Round 6
1st XI – No match (already played)
2nd XI v St Gregory’s College @ St Gregory’s College Campbelltown
2nd XI - ISA Round 5
The 2nds were at Oxford Falls for the 5th round of the ISA season, facing St Augustine’s in a very low scoring game. Pius won the toss and chose to bowl but the opening bowlers had trouble finding the first wicket.
St Augustine’s were 0/44 until a great runout from Lucas Gleeson claimed the first wicket. After that the 2nds were on fire with another wicket coming a few overs later from another runout, this time from Oliver Battersby. Wickets kept falling with St Augustine’s losing 10/36 to be bowled out for a total of 80. There were great bowling performances from Tom Costain (5/16) from his ten overs and Anthony Kennedy (1/7) from 2 overs.
The 2nds came into bat just before lunch. A early wicket fell in the first over and the 2nds waited out till lunch. Lunch was interrupted by rain and the covers having to go on. The rain game was delayed for 2 hours with the new total being 78 off 46 overs. After play resumed, a couple of quick wickets saw the 2nds at 3/23. A handy partnership between Oliver Battersby (20) and Henry Gardner (17) got the 2nds to 3/52 until Oliver got hit on the toe out LBW. Another wicket fell and the 2nds were 5/56, feeling some pressure, until Anthony Kennedy and Oscar Clubbe got Pius over the line.

Squash
Last weekend saw most fixtures at Willoughby with Pius vs Pius for most games. Pat Buono of SPX 6 played twice to beat SPX 5, SPX 3 beat SPX 4 and SPX1 and 2 had wins to finish off the round with finals week next Saturday at Thornleigh. There is a chance for teams to move up a division for the second half of the season and I wish all players the best of luck.
