White Ribbon Day

On Wednesday 26 November, our school marked White Ribbon Day with a moving and important assembly focused on preventing men’s violence against women and promoting a culture of respect. The event was a strong declaration of our school’s commitment to safety and equality for all.

The highlight of the morning was the arrival of special guests, a group of female students from Mercy Catholic College. Their presence provided an essential voice to the conversation, transforming a typical assembly into a deep, engaging dialogue.

During the assembly, the Mercy students bravely answered questions from the wellbeing leader, sharing their genuine feelings and thoughts about the significance of White Ribbon Day and the importance of active intervention and respect. Hearing their first-hand perspectives was a crucial reminder that fostering safe environments and challenging harmful attitudes is a shared, ongoing responsibility for everyone in our community.

The maturity and honesty displayed by the students were inspiring. We extend our sincere gratitude to the students from Mercy for their vital contribution. This assembly has reinforced our school’s commitment to the White Ribbon pledge and motivates us all to become proactive allies in upholding a culture of non-violence every single day.

Ending the School Year with Pride at St Pius X

As we approach the conclusion of another successful school year, it is important that we finish strongly by upholding the values and standards that define our community.

  • Appropriate Behaviour: Every student is encouraged to demonstrate maturity and responsibility. Respect for teachers, peers, and the wider school environment ensures that the final weeks are positive and memorable.

  • Correct Uniform: Wearing the school uniform neatly and with pride reflects our shared identity. A tidy appearance shows commitment to the traditions of St Pius X and sets the tone for excellence.

  • Hair Standards: Maintaining the correct haircut is part of presenting oneself respectfully. It demonstrates discipline and consideration for the expectations of our school.

  • Respect for All: Above all, kindness and respect should guide every interaction. By treating others with dignity, students contribute to a safe and supportive environment where everyone can celebrate the year’s achievements.

Ending the year well is not just about following rules, it’s about showing gratitude for the opportunities we’ve had and preparing ourselves for the challenges ahead. Let’s ensure that the final chapter of this school year reflects the best of St Pius X.

Social media age restrictions explained – a guide for parents and carers

As advised in previous Woodchattas, most parents would be aware that from 10 December 2025, certain social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australian children under 16 create or keep an account.

What you need to know:

  • The age restrictions are likely to apply to InstagramFacebookSnapchatTikTokX and YouTube, among other platforms.
  • Most online gaming and standalone messaging apps are among the types of services that will not be included.

  • Children under 16 will still be able to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account.

Find out more at  eSafety’s social media age restrictions hub. If you can't join our free webinar, they are also developing video guides for parents and carers about the upcoming social media changes for those under 16.
