Living the Beatitudes
Loving God,
Thank You for our family and for the gift of today.
Thank You for Jesus, who teaches us how to love and care for others.
Help us to be kind and gentle in our words and actions.
Help us to forgive, to share, and to make peace when things are difficult.
Guide us to see You in one another and in everyone we meet.
Bless our home with love, patience, and joy.
May we try each day to live the Beatitudes and follow Jesus more closely.
Amen.
Living the Beatitudes(Matthew 5:1-12)
In last Sunday's Gospel, we heard that Jesus sits with His followers and teaches them what it truly means to live a happy and blessed life. These teachings are known as the Beatitudes. While the world often tells us that happiness comes from success, popularity, or having more, Jesus gently reminds us that real happiness is found in love, kindness, humility, and trust in God.
The Beatitudes encourage us to be:
Kind and gentle, even when it is difficult
Peacemakers, who help others get along
Caring and compassionate, especially towards those who are hurting
Brave in doing what is right, even when it’s not the easiest choice
At our school, we see the Beatitudes lived out every day in children who include others in their games, in students who show forgiveness, and in families and staff who work together with patience and generosity. These small, everyday actions reflect Jesus’ message and help build a community where everyone feels valued and loved.
As a school community, we are invited to ask ourselves:
How can I live the Beatitudes this week?
Perhaps it is by offering a helping hand, speaking kindly, standing up for someone, or taking time to pray and thank God for His blessings.
May we continue to walk in Jesus’ footsteps, striving to live the Beatitudes in our words and actions, and helping our children grow not only in learning, but in faith, compassion, and joy.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
