From the Principal

Dear families,

I hope everyone is safe and sound. It has been a challenging week for our local community. I pray that we are all connected and back up and running in no time. If you are in need of any support, please reach out. We will help in any way we can. We have hot water and power, if you need assistance in these areas, please send me an email.

Despite a challenging week, our week did start with our magnificent Swimming Carnival on Monday. Thanks to Mrs Wicks and all the staff for their help on the day. Special shout out to our parent helpers! The day would not have been as successful without you. The children also had a ball this week making pancakes on Tuesday, due to obvious reasons our Ash Wednesday Mass was postponed.

We now move into the season of Lent as we prepare for Easter. I have added a helpful video in the RE information section for families to watch and learn together. I have also added a video from Caritas Australia, this is the wonderful organisation we raise money for each Lenten season. Caritas raises money to fund  projects around the world that helps those less fortunate than ourselves. Please take some time to watch these videos.

Just a reminder that all going well, I will be on leave from Monday 26th of February - Tuesday 5th of March. Mrs Danielle George will be Acting Principal in my absence.

The next Assembly will take place on February 26th in the School Library. It will begin at 2:30pm.

Parent and Teacher Meet and Greets:

The link for the Meet and Greets next week was sent out last Thursday via School Stream. If you have not made a time, please do so.

Just a reminder, some parents would have received an email asking not to book a time, as they will be having a PSG later this term. Thanks for your understanding in this space.

Belgrave Football Club - Working Bee:

On Saturday morning I opened the school up to the wonderful Belgrave Senior Football Club, these men and women gave up their morning to help with a community working bee at our school. Some of the jobs completed include:

  • Topping up the playground with safe fall.
  • Filling up the sandpit
  • Mulching the garden beds
  • Hanging up some whiteboards
  • Building some shelves in our hall for Mrs Wicks

Thank you so much to Darren Hamilton from BFC, this is the second time we have had a working bee where they have given time for our school. We cannot thank you enough.

Swimming Carnival:

On Monday we held our annual Swimming Carnival. It was a scorcher of a day and the pool was a welcome relief for the students. Congratulations to the students who showed patience and perseverance. It was a great morning!

Well done to Yellow House on winning the carnival. Also well done to the students who have progressed to the District Carnival.

Shrove Tuesday:

The students (and staff) really enjoyed their pancakes on Tuesday. I have added a video for families who are not familiar with the tradition that is Shrove Tuesday.
