Pilgrim School Family Community Event

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Family Community Event on Saturday 17th February. It was a beautiful day to be at Marion Outdoor Pool and we had a great time connecting with each other as we begin the new school year.

Commencement Worship

We enjoyed a unique celebration at Worship this week with the introduction of our Foundation students to the whole school. This was a special moment for the Foundation students who, with much excitement and nervousness, stepped up on stage with their Year 6 buddies who shared a little about them through a poem. What a great job the Year 6s did in sharing these fun poems and ensuring lots of smiles were seen. We dedicated Pilgrim and our community to 2024 through prayer and promises by the Board, parents and staff—a special morning for all.

Visit from Anne Dunstan

We recently enjoyed a visit from Anne Dunstan, the Chief Executive Officer at the Association of Independent Schools in South Australia (AISSA). AISSA works closely with our school providing support, professional development and advice. As a member school of AISSA, we appreciate the support and services from their highly skilled and experienced team.

Free Home Internet for Unconnected Families

In 2023, the Australian Government established the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) to provide free home internet until 31st December 2025, for up to 30,000 unconnected families with school age students.

The initiative gives unconnected students the opportunity to access fast and reliable broadband internet at home as this is considered important to support their learning and education in an increasingly digital world.

Families can find out more or sign up by contacting the National Referral Centre on 1800 954 610 (Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm AEDT), or by visiting the website:

To qualify, a family must:

  • have a child living at home who is enrolled in an Australian school.
  • not currently have an active NBN network internet service at home – having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility.
  • live in premises that can access the NBN network through a standard connection.

Families can contact the SSBI National Referral Centre (NRC) to check their eligibility for the initiative. After a family contacts the NRC, an operator will verbally check their eligibility and support the family to get connected through a participating internet provider.  Please note that as per the above criteria, no supporting paperwork or background checks are required.

This is a great initiative that is already helping so many students in Australia.

First Aid Room Linen Helpers

Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to help with washing the First Aid Room linen. We are looking for a few extra volunteers to please collect the linen, wash it and return it to school. If we have 10 volunteers, you would only need to do this once per term. Please email the school at pilgrim@pilgrim.sa.edu.au or phone 8270 3033 to offer your help.

Volunteering at Pilgrim School

We love having volunteers in a range of roles at Pilgrim School and on Campus. If you have some available time, you may want to help in classrooms (e.g. listening to reading), become involved with our Learning Assistance Program (working regularly with a student or small group of students), sports coaching or managing, fundraising, helping in the Canteen or Library, or attending camps or excursions.

Please use the link below for more information about the process for volunteering at Pilgrim School.

If you are considering volunteering at Pilgrim School, please read our Volunteers Guidelines and Code of Conduct.

Our highest priority is to ensure we maintain a safe environment at Pilgrim School for all children and members of our school community. All volunteers need to register through our online Volunteer Registration and Agreement form:

As you will see, volunteers need to provide details of a current ‘Working with Children Check’ certificate, 'Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care' (RRHAN-EC) certificate and it is highly recommended they also complete an online Protective Practices training. Details of accessing these trainings are included in the Volunteer Registration and Agreement Form and on our website.

Please continue to sign in and out through the Front Office each time you volunteer at Pilgrim School.

School Shoes

Often families buy new school shoes at the beginning of the school year. This is a good time to remind families about the requirements for school shoes that meet the current Uniform policy. Please only purchase shoes that meet our policy. If you are unsure, you are welcome to contact us.

Black School Shoes

For boys and girls with all formal uniforms:

  • Black lace-up shoes.
  • Foundation to Year 2 students can wear black school shoes with velcro or Mary Janes.
  • elastic-sided boots, black sneakers, buckles, coloured stitching and heels higher than 3cm are not permitted.

Here are some samples that meet school policy:

Here are some samples that do not meet school policy:
