Spotlight on Learning

K-2

Hi, my name is Caroline Idstein and I'll be teaching 2I in 2024 and leading the K-2 team. 2I have had a fabulous start to the school year and have enjoyed getting to know each other and starting our Year 2 work.

Mrs Idstein - Stage 1 Assistant Principal

Stage 2

The 3S students returned to Roselea with evident excitement for the new year. Their bright smiles reflected their readiness to dive back into learning. Since they were already familiar with each other, we skipped the usual 'get to know each other' activities and jumped straight into our lessons.

Our first task was to explore the narrative elements using the story 'The Big Bad Wolf.' The students quickly recalled the purpose and structure of narratives, showing their solid understanding from previous lessons.

In pairs, students analysed how authors use different saying verbs to enrich their writing. Together, they compiled a list of 25 saying verbs, observing how these verbs paint vivid pictures in readers' minds. Using this list, they practised incorporating varied saying verbs into their own writing to enhance expression.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue working with these enthusiastic writers in 2024, confident that they will continue to grow and refine their skills.

Mr So - 3S Classroom Teacher

Stage 3

A warm welcome back to all of our parents and students to what should be a fantastic year ahead. I hope you all had a safe and restful holiday break. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of excellent learning outcomes, where all students are challenged to achieve their learning goals, aspire to do their personal best and share their successes with you. The Stage 3 teachers are all excited for the learning journey ahead in 2024.

All classes have started the year by diving straight into our literacy and numeracy programs based off the updated NSW syllabus. This allows our students to learn expected routines in Years 5 and 6 and achieve their best outcomes. Many of our students will be starting their learning journey slides and setting goals by discussing with their teacher where to next in their learning. This will be shared with you throughout the year.

We look forward to sharing more information with you at the upcoming Meet the Teacher evening next Thursday.
