PRAYER
Dear Father God,
Thank you for holidays and the freedom to spend time with my family and friends.
Help me to keep these happy times in my heart.
I am excited to start school and to spend time with my teacher and class friends.
Help me to settle back into this new year!
Help me to learn, to grow in confidence
And to have lots of fun.
OPENING SCHOOL MASS
We invite families to attend our Opening School Mass with St Mary's of the Angels College on Thursday 15th February at 11:15am. The ceremony will be held at the Nathalia Community Centre.
During the event, we will present our Grade 6 School and House Captains leaders with their school badges.
SHROVE TUESDAY & ASH WEDNESDAY
Tuesday 13th Feb marks ‘Shrove Tuesday’ and pancake day. Pancakes are associated with Shrove Tuesday, the day preceding Lent, because they are a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. We will celebrate the beginning of LENT with pancakes for the students.
Ash Wednesday (14th Feb) marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption. We will celebrate the day with a liturgy at St Mary’s Church on Wednesday morning.
PROJECT COMPASSION
Once again, the THEME of Project Compassion is ‘FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS’.
This year, it’s inspired by the story in Exodus (3:1-20). In this story, God tells Moses that he has heard the cry of the people. God responds to things not being fair and chooses Moses to speak to Pharaoh. Though Moses is afraid, God promises to be with him. And God said, This is my name for all time; by this name I shall be invoked for all generations to come (3:15). As God called Moses, so now God calls us to work for justice for all future generations.
Students will receive a Project Compassion box with any families wishing to contribute to return the box by Friday 22nd March. We appreciate your support.
