CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Reading we are learning how authors use language features to convince their audience. 

VOCABULARY

Paragraph: A group of sentences that share a common idea.

Topic Sentence: A sentence that states the main thought of a paragraph.

Engage: Participate or become involved in.

Reasons: The cause of an event or situation or something that provides an excuse or explanation.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Please make sure your child is reading for 10 mins every night. 

Find different language features in the books that are in your blue satchel. 

Can you find these in your reading books:

• a Rhetorical question
• an example of an exaggeration
• facts on a topic
• personal pronouns (I, We, She, etc.)
• emotive words
