Level 1

Literacy

We have had fun in Level 1 diving into our holiday recount writing. Students enjoyed sharing their holiday activities with each other. We have been learning to include adjectives and sequencing words in our writing to ensure it flows. We have also begun to create our Writers Notebooks where we will note our ideas and other important parts of our writing.

In Reading, we have enjoyed exploring some picture stories as a whole class. We enjoyed making predictions and text to self-connections as we read the story. It’s great to see so many of the students beginning to read for interest!

We headed outside and enjoyed some of the beautiful sunshine. We revised our letter sounds through a range of different activities that involved full body movement, like Sound Hop!

Numeracy

We began the year with exploring data and graphs! We had some fun ‘get to know you’ questions to find out more about our classmates. Students practiced coming up with their own questions to ask the class. We also headed outside to collect data on the different rubbish found in the yard.
