Year 12 PD Day

On Monday 5 February, the Year 12 cohort had the amazing opportunity to visit Moama Bowling Club and learn life-changing advice that we can implement in our future. This ranged from making smart choices with businesses, friends, studying and time management.

Our first guest speaker, Sasha, shared the challenges she faced throughout her life. She encouraged us that we can take more than one pathway, just like she had done to get to where she is today. Sasha also stressed the importance of persisting even when things don’t go the way we initially hoped for, that trial and error is fundamental to shaping the person you are today and into the future, as long as you keep getting back up again.

Our second speaker, Sonya, provided us with essential information on how to be safe during social events and how to make smart choices. As we soon enter into a new world of adulthood, we learnt how to be safe around alcohol and what to do in certain situations that need quick decision-making skills, such as knowing how to put someone into a recovery position, looking after friends around you and knowing to assess a situation carefully before making a choice.

Finally, we got to unwind by playing barefoot bowls with our friends and teachers and hanging out with one another to socialise. Overall the Year 12 PD day was a great success and we walked out knowing how to be better people in many different aspects of our individual and unique lives.

We would like to thank the teachers for organising this valuable event, the guest speakers for their very interesting and relevant presentations and Moama Bowling Club for their generous sponsorship of the day.
