Physical Education 

I feel like I always say this, but what a brilliant start to the year and term! Only three weeks in and it feels like we’ve done so much already. The Preps have had an amazing start to their sporting school life, showing loads of excitement and enthusiasm towards PE and the fun that comes with it. We had a really fun session on Tuesday with a massive parachute, playing games together including the super fun ‘Sharks & Swimmers’! They’re a great bunch and I’m already so excited to watch them grow as team players and sports people.

Years 1 & 2 have really thrown themselves into a sport I’ve only ever played with the Upper years, European Handball. They have shown a lot of skill and understanding when it comes to learning the rules and skills needed to play the game. I’m loving watching them get better at moving around the court and finding the space to get the ball and go for goals. 

Years 3-6 are loving volleyball and learning all the different shots required to get the ball up in the air and get a rally going. We’re getting there but the kids are quickly realising it’s not an easy game to play and requires loads of concentration and teamwork. Our school team is training every lunchtime (without fail) with myself and Wiley and we’re seeing improvement every day. We can’t wait for the COBAW Summer Sports day on Monday 26th February where we can really show off our new skills and that wonderful LPS spirit we’re known for. 

Last big mention…Running Club! What a joy it has been getting down to the oval and watching all of the cars pull up and the keen runners jump out of the car and hit the track. I am so so proud of the students who have turned up this week and put in a huge effort with the hill sprints, interval training (Fartlek to be accurate…ask the runners about it) and long runs around the school. Running Club goes for the next two weeks and is always open for any Year 3-6 student. Please come down, even if you can only make it to one session, you are so welcome!
