Student’s  were firstly escorted to the Legislative Council chambers of the Victorian Parliament, where they had the chance to ask questions about the workings of parliament. This was followed by the students moving to the Legislative Assembly rooms where they were welcomed by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Maree Edwards MP.

Students used this unique opportunity to ask questions about how women in Science found success in male-dominated fields, the nature and pressures of their work, as well as the highlights and successes. Students also probed into the environmental implications of rising temperatures in Antarctica, and the outbreak of bird flu in the region.  This excursion gave the girls a unique perspective that may well shape their future.
