International Women’s Day Friday 8th of March

The SRC intends to commemorate International Women's Day on the 8th of March.

In order to celebrate this day, we have planned a bracelet making workshops and the SRC will make the purple ribbon pins to hand out that students can wear. Similar to our celebration of Harmony Day, we will create a playlist featuring inspiring women to play on the speakers during bell times. Additionally, we are in the process of sourcing a guest speaker who can deliver a speech to the school during lunchtime.

Harmony Day – Casual Clothes Day  Thursday 21 March

Harmony Day is a special occasion that celebrates inclusivity and respect for all cultures.

This will be a Casual Clothes Day for all students, so if you would like to dress in traditional clothes to celbrate the diversity within our school, that woudl be great!  To make the day even more enjoyable the SRC is organising various fun activities, including badge-making and writing pledges during break times. There will be a selection of music playing throughout the day, featuring and promoting the spirit of Harmony Day, and in addition the SRC will create e-Posters that will be displayed on screens around the school promoting Harmony. The team will also be making orange ribbons to hand out.

On this day, we encourage everyone to bring their own culturally diverse food to eat and share with friends.

Watch Teams and Compass newsfeed for more information closer to the event.

Fundraising Charity

The SRC is changing the way we donate our fundraising this year.

Instead of donating to a number of different charities across the year, we will accumulate our funds and donate to just one charity at the end of the year. This way, the student community can make a more significant impact on the charity that receives the funds.

The SRC members suggested, discussed and considered a number of organisations for which it could fundraise, and after an SRC vote we are pleased to announce that the winning charity is the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation links strongly to education, and is primarily focused on providing tools and resources to improve and enhance the literacy of indigenous children in over 400 remote regions of across the Australian mainland, Tiwi Islands and the Torres Strait Islands.

If you would like to know more about is work , visit Indigenous Literacy Foundation and look out for opportunities to donate to the cause across this school year.

New SRC meeting format

The SRC meetings will be held in a new format this year.

Meetings  will take place every two weeks, and be targeted so that  only specific individuals need attend the meeting. For example, some meetings may be directed at only captains, or only senior students, or only junior students, or members of the sports committee, etc.

The goal of this change is to create a better and more efficient environment for the student  meetings, where students do not feel obligated to attend every single meeting, and know that when they do attend the meeting content will be highly relevant to their roles on the SRC. Hopefully, this will make the SRC more enjoyable and manageable for everyone involved.

Student Forum

The SRC is planning to arrange an open forum for students of all year levels.

The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for students to share their ideas and feedback on various issues and topics related to our school, its community and the learning environments.

The forum is expected to be held during weeks 6 to 9 of Term 1, and repeated each term. Forum participants will be divided into groups of senior and junior students so as to encourage more junior students to participate and to ensure that all contributions will be heard.

We warmly welcome all students to attend and lend their voice, their ideas and their passion for our school.
