Alternate Programs

Dan Garner - Assistant Principal Alternate Programs

As we approach the final three weeks of Term Three, I'd like to acknowledge that it has been one of the busiest terms for both teachers and students. I extend my thanks to all staff, parents, and students for their hard work and dedication.

I encourage all parents to reach out to us for updates on the work students need to complete as the school year draws to a close. We also offer support for those applying for employment or TAFE programs. Horsham College provides excellent resources in the apprenticeship and traineeship areas, and we would be happy to arrange a time for students and parents to discuss these options with us.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 8 of this term, on Thursday 11 September.  Classes will be cancelled on this day, and teachers will reach out to arrange a time to meet.

As we approach the September break, please take care of yourselves and your children. If students are feeling stressed as we get closer to receiving results, don't hesitate to contact us. Horsham has a range of services available to support you through various situations, even when the school is closed.

Senior Group

We are halfway through the term already and students in the senior group have been busy completing many vpc units. We are also proud of students that have gained part time work outside school. In addition, several have undertaken work experience, structured workplace learning and an apprenticeship in carpentry was gained. These are great outcomes. Well done.

Blue Group

Blue Group Students digging deep!

On Monday 25 August, a team of students from Blue Group met with Jennifer Gao from the Horsham Rural City Council to plant a combination of native trees and shrubs along Kenny Road & Ballinger Street. In total, the students had planted 50 new trees and had placed a protective guard around them to ensure that the plants and tree do not become damaged or eaten by local animals.

Both Ben & Dave were very pleased with the student’s work ethic and respect shown towards Jennifer.

Jennifer spoke about the importance of revegetation of native plants, especially as since people have settled in Horsham over 50% of the trees have been cleared from the land.

If any students are interested in participating in extra tree planting, there is an opportunity to participate in the Youth Nature Crew by registering your interest in the below google form https://forms.office.com/r/4zx4jZx21c.
