Take a look at what we've been up to this term!
Year 3 and 4 students recently participated in an exciting excursion, rotating through four engaging activities connected Geography, Science, and Aboriginal education. They explored the Cumberland Plain Woodland habitats through nature play, created mud maps, planted trees to help restore local habitats, and took part in a First Nations cultural experience with Darug Elders. We are grateful to the Education team at Greater Sydney Parklands for generously covering the cost of this enriching excursion.
Stage 2 students have been exploring digital technologies in their Science and Technology lessons this term. They have been learning about coding, algorithms, and robotics, developing skills that are essential for the future. Through hands-on activities, students have been creating simple programs and experimenting with robots, sparking their curiosity and creativity. This exciting learning journey is helping them build problem-solving abilities and a deeper understanding of how technology shapes our world.
We explored the features of four-sided shapes such as squares, rectangles, rhombuses, trapeziums, and parallelograms. Students investigated their properties and used geoboards to create and compare different types of quadrilaterals. This hands-on learning experience helped us understand how shapes can be classified, sorted, and applied in the world around us.
Year 4 have been learning about multiplication, position, and probability. During multiplication lessons, students learnt about applying a range of different strategies to solve problems. When learning about position, students navigated their way through grid maps using language such as 'left', 'right', and 'quarter turn' as well as using compass directions. Probability lessons involved using the language of chance to describe the likelihood of an event, such as 'impossible', 'likely', and 'unlikely'.
Stage 2 has been dancing their way through an exciting unit filled with energy, creativity, and teamwork! They have explored how movement can tell a story, express emotions, and bring ideas to life. From learning new steps to choreographing their own routines, students have built their confidence and coordination while having loads of fun. Working in groups, they have created performances that showcase not only their dancing skills but also their imagination and collaboration skills.
