Sacrament of Reconciliation

Congratulations to all the students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation last night!  This special milestone marks an important step in your faith journey, and we are so proud of your commitment and reflection.  A heartfelt thank you to your families, teachers, and especially Father Brian, whose guidance, support and encouragement helped prepare you for this sacred moment.

This Sunday's Gospel - Twenty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C

Luke 12:49-53

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

I have come not to give peace, but discord.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were blazing already!  There is a baptism I must still receive, and how great is my distress till it is over!

‘Do you suppose that I am here to bring peace on earth?  No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on a household of five will be divided: three against two and two against three; the father divided against the son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’

A beginning point for discussion of this week's Gospel with children:

  • What is your favourite book or video?
  • How hard is it to choose only one answer?
  • Jesus tells us that choosing his way is not always easy. When might it be hard to do what Jesus asks us?
  • What are some good choices that we can make this week?
