Principal's Update

St Joseph's is a child-safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.

Good afternoon families ...

Spring has arrived, bringing longer days, warmer sunshine, and the thrill of the footy finals!  It’s such an exciting time of year for our school community, as students, families, and staff come together to celebrate sport, teamwork, and school spirit.

It was great to have so many fathers, grandfathers and father figures join us for breakfast this morning.  Many thanks to our hard-working mums and staff who fed the masses.  Hope all you blokes get spoilt rotten this Sunday.

Good luck to all our teams stepping into the finals season – we hope you enjoy every moment of the action, give it your best on the field or court, and make memories that will last well beyond the season.  Let’s embrace all the energy and excitement that this wonderful time of year brings!

Parent Opportunity

We continue to explore our partnership with world-renowned educational neuroscientist, Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, who conducted our diocesan-wide professional learning at the beginning of Term 2.  Jared is a global leader in the Science of Learning, and his work offers powerful insights into how students learn and how we can best support them to thrive at school and beyond.

The first parent session was well attended, and we received very positive feedback from families who found the insights informative and valuable.  The next session will focus on:

Brain Development: Why We Act Like We Do📲 A video link will be emailed out on Monday. No bookings or set times are required to view this session.

ORIMA Surveys

Last week, our annual ORIMA Survey has been released to random families from St Joseph's to complete.  Please know that this data is very purposeful for the school in planning improvements and resources to best include parent voice and perception.

I would be very grateful to those of you who can commit time to completing this survey. Alongside families, staff and students also take part, providing Leadership and CESL with perspective data of what is going well at St Joseph's and areas of growth we can focus on in the future.  Thank you to any of you who can take part.

Child Protection Week

This year’s Child Protection Week theme is 'Every conversation matters: shifting conversation to action'.  At St Joseph's, we are committed to creating safe, supportive spaces for children and young people. This Child Protection Week, we’re reminded that every conversation has the power to protect, encourage and heal.  The documentary Seen - The Film is a moving reminder of how being truly present with our children – even for just a few minutes – can change their sense of safety and belonging.  We encourage all parents and carers to watch Seen - The Film and reflect on how the simple act of listening can shape a child’s future.  Together, let’s turn our conversations into lasting action.

School Fees & Levies

Statements for school fees & levies are emailed to families at the start of each month.  Please check your statement and contact the office if you have any questions.

It is expected that all school fees and levies are finalised each year by the start of December.

The school provides a variety of options for payment of school fees and levies - in full at the start of the school year / part payment at the start of each school term / by direct debit – weekly, fortnightly, or monthly / by direct payment into the school bank account or by regular payments at the school office by cash or EFTPOS.   You can even pay over the phone if you wish.

It is important that payment of school fees and levies are honoured and prompt payment is much appreciated.  However, if you are experiencing difficulty meeting your obligation for payment, please contact the school to arrange a time to discuss this with the Principal, Mr Peter Teggelove.

Start the conversation - online safety at home

Launching a regular series for parents, this first A4 insert helps families start regular chats about respectful online behaviour, privacy, app age restrictions and where to find trusted advice from the eSafety Commissioner.

2026 Enrolment

We are planning the set up for the 2026 school year and would appreciate families who may be leaving St Joseph's to let us know as soon as possible.  This advanced notice supports not only our organisation for 2026 but the transition of students to other settings.

CESL Magnify Podcasts

If you haven't already listened to any CESL podcasts, I encourage you to take the time to listen to the following podcast...

The power of shared curriculum and teacher preparation with Ochre Education

Imagine if teachers were able to save time developing learning materials from scratch. Well, with the right tools and trusted content, every teacher can focus on what matters most: their students.

Supervision Hours (Repeat)

Please note - the school yard is unsupervised before 8:30am.  There are still many, many children on the grounds prior to this time.  For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30am.

Kind regards,

Peter Teggelove, Principal
