Welcome to this edition of the Banyule Bulletin.

We have had some very busy moments since the last edition, with Literacy and National Science weeks being the centre of much of the excitement.

One for the books...

Banyule's love for books was obvious during Literacy Week. Our dress up day was testament to this with the eye-catching parade once again showcasing everyone's commitment and creativity with amazing outfits. A huge thank you to parents and carers for helping your children look so amazing. We know it's likely not without tears, late nights on sewing machines and last minute trips to Spotlight. The book swap was another highlight, with some recycling possible and nice donation to support indigenous literacy programs.

While you can read more about Literacy Week later in the Bulletin, we'd like to share our gratitude to our Literacy Learning Specialist, Jessica Ray and her team for the mountain of work surrounding another successful Literacy Week.

Science is golden...

If one thought books were THE biggest love of Banyule Primary, then no one told SCIENCE! Our maiden Science Fair was certainly proof of that. It was a breathtaking turn out of mini-scientists in our gym last week. We had the pleasure of visiting so many of the children and their displays with our Year 6 Captains and it was wonderful to see and hear about the bubbly, beepy and bouncy scientific principles on show.

There's more on Science Week later in the Bulletin, but thank you again to parents and carers for supporting your children to be part of this great experience. And once again, tremendous gratitude to our wonderful staff team, led by STEAM extraordinaire Sarah Nedelkos.

Happy Campers...

It's been a big week for our Year 5 and 6 teams, who both headed off to Forrest Lodge in Gippsland. Camps are a great way for children to develop their independence, expand their comfort zone and achieve personal bests and the BPS camping program provides a great opportunity to do this in an engaging and supportive environment. We thank our team of amazing staff for their work in preparation and for sacrificing time away from their own loved ones to make this possible, as well as our wonderful parent helpers who joined them.

Working Together for Stronger Learning...

Recently, we had the privilege of presenting at our Banyule Nillumbik Schools Network Meeting alongside Principals and Assistant Principals from Glen Katherine, Apollo, and Greenhills Primary Schools.

Together, we are part of a Community of Practice, a group of schools who meet regularly to learn from one another, share what works best, and strengthen teaching across our local area. Our recent focus has been on curriculum implementation, ensuring that the way we teach is consistent, clear, and grounded in the strongest research and evidence available. By collaborating closely, we can refine our approaches, share successful strategies, and ensure that every student benefits from the most up-to-date and effective teaching practices. This partnership means our school is continually learning, improving, and building on what works to give your children the best possible education.
