Music Program

2025 Music Camp
Last week, 106 students from Years 8–12 (plus one advanced Year 7) attended our largest ever Music Camp. Over three packed days, students rehearsed, played, sang, and enjoyed some non-musical activities to give their brains and “chops” a break.
With our program expanding, we shifted the camp focus to include more variety. Students formed small chamber groups, rock bands, vocal ensembles, and string quartets, choosing who they played with and what they performed. Some of these groups performed during the afternoon tea concert, which led into the main concert showcasing all major ensembles, finishing with a rousing all-camp performance of Africa by Toto.
Our Year 12s shone as leaders, running Thursday’s Games Night and Friday’s Talent Show, which featured a memorable Year 12 act. A teachers’ saxophone ensemble kept the crowd entertained while the judges tallied the results. The talent, teamwork, and creativity on display were outstanding, with students supporting and inspiring one another across all year levels.
Thank you to our dedicated Music staff – Ms Cook, Ms Savage, Mr Seedsman, Ms West, Ms McGann, Mr Cullen, Ms Vella, Ms Jacobs, and Mr Ho – and our wonderful Pre-Service Teachers, Mr Morgan, Miss Mahanty, and Miss Thompson – for making this camp such a success. Thank you to Jane Garrow, our ‘truckie’ making sure all our gear got to camp and back safely and to the parents who helped with unloading the truck when we got back to school, Saturday night. Greatly appreciated!

The Video
A highlight of tMusic Camp is the Year 12 produced video. This year its to 'Holding Out for a Hero'.
Year 12 perspective
Music Camp is always a special experience but more so when in Year 12. In previous years, I always looked up to the seniors which took on leadership roles creating a unique camp culture with each cohort. This year we were lucky enough to have 14 Years 12s on camp all packed with costumes, games and cameras to document the experience. In the weeks leading up to camp we chose our music video song, planned our talent show act and organised the games night. During our time away the students in our final year strengthened our friendships and made amazing memories for our final year, I was really proud of the way we came together creating a fun camp for ourselves and the younger year levels.
