High Abilities Happenings at GRPS!
Great Ryrie is fortunate enough to have so many students working at a high level across many learning areas. We are proud to be able to extend and offer these students so many programs, competitions and opportunities to showcase their skills throughout the year!
In Extension Reading, Year 4 students have been reading texts where the main characters have Cerebral Palsy and Dyslexia. Students gained an insight into how others with learning challenges manage their day to day lives. This has resulted in inquisitive and empathy driven discussion.
Our Year 3 & 4 Maths Explorer and Year 5 & 6 Maths Olympiad teams will sit their fourth and final competition test next Monday and Tuesday. We wish these teams the best of luck and should all be commended on their growth and accomplishments throughout the program.
On the weekend multiple students ranging from Years 4-6 participated in MENSA testing. Students were required to answer a variety of cognitive and intelligence based puzzle and sequencing questions which assess their problem solving and reasoning skills across a variety of intellectual bands.
We are also pleased to have so many students participating in the online weekly Victorian High-Ability Program where students meet with like minded peers through weekly virtual lessons which extend and develop their skills in either Maths or English.
