Visual Art

It has been another exciting and creative term in the Art Room, with students from Prep to Grade 6 exploring a wide range of artists, techniques and materials.
- Preps have completed their colourful Eric Carle inspired paper collage pieces, which have been proudly shared with families on Seesaw and they are now creating pasta sculptures
- Grade 1s have just completed their paper collage cityscapes and have since been introduced to influential modernist artist Georgia O’Keeffe, learning how to use dry pastels to create bold and vibrant artworks in her style.
- Grade 2s are have recently finished their tissue paper secret gardens and are now discovering the work of Barbara Reid, a Canadian author and illustrator. They have begun designing their own plasticine pictures which will include a foreground, midground and background.
- Grade 3s recently completed their delightful whimsical bird paintings, experimenting with watercolour techniques to bring colour and movement to their creations.
- Grade 4s have begun work on striking lion watercolour paintings, which will be enhanced with textured paper collage elements.
- Grade 5s are putting the finishing touches on their Still Life paper collages—these pieces are looking fabulous and showcase strong design and composition skills.
- Grade 6s have been learning about contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama, taking inspiration from her famous Infinity Rooms and love of bold, patterned surfaces to create imaginative artworks of their own.
