Learning Highlights from Our Class!
It’s been a fantastic few weeks in our classroom, full of fun, creativity, and lots of learning!
Our students have been working hard to build their reading stamina—learning to stay focused and enjoy reading for longer periods of time. In writing, we’ve been exploring when and how to use capital letters correctly. The class now knows that we use capitals at the start of a sentence, for the names of people and places, and for the days of the week and months of the year, just to name a few. We’ve also had some great discussions about end punctuation. Full stops, question marks, and exclamation marks are starting to pop up in all the right places!
In maths, we’ve been looking at the importance of position and how we use positional language in everyday life. One of our favourite activities was writing instructions for an alien to help it find its way from one spot in the classroom to another—there were lots of laughs and some very creative directions!
Science has been a real highlight with a hands-on challenge to design and build our very own Rube Goldberg machines—specifically ones that could feed a dog! The students had an absolute blast working together to create their wacky, wonderful contraptions, learning about cause and effect along the way.
And in art, our classroom has truly come to life with a display of fantastic stick figure self-portraits! Each one is unique, colourful, and full of personality—they’ve really made our learning space pop!
