Lunchtime Activities in the MRC

The MRC offers a range of lunchtime activities designed to support students in Years 7 to 10. These clubs provide a positive, low-pressure environment where students can develop new skills, socialise with peers, and enjoy their breaks in a safe and inclusive space.

Here is what is available throughout the week:

Monday – Minecraft Club

Students are invited to bring their devices and collaborate with friends to explore and create within the Minecraft world.

Tuesday – LEGO Masters

Inspired by the popular TV show, this club encourages students to work individually or in pairs to build creative LEGO projects. End-of-term prizes are awarded for outstanding creations.

Wednesday – Sewing Club

No prior experience is necessary. Students can learn basic sewing skills while working on meaningful projects such as pet bandanas, a Neurodiversity banner, or, for those ready, a pair of shorts.

Thursday – Thursday Funday & Minecraft Club

The day begins with Thursday Funday at recess, offering morning tea and group games to help students relax and connect. At lunch, Minecraft Club continues, providing more opportunities for creative building.

Friday – Board Game Friday

To end the week on a positive note, students can participate in a variety of board and card games including Connect 4, Scrabble, Chess, Exploding Kittens, and Uno. This is a great chance to unwind and strengthen friendships.

The Mary Rice Centre is committed to being an inclusive and welcoming environment. We encourage all students in Years 7 to 10 to take part in these activities and find something that interests them.

Donations, Donations, Donations

To help facilitate our Friday activities, we are on the hunt for extra sets of Exploding Kittens and general card decks. If you have any sitting at home, gathering dust then please consider donating them to us. They can be dropped off at the MRC or Reception. Thanks so much!
