F-2
This term, we are beginning our Engineering journey. The Foundation students were busy engineering the perfect chair using construction blocks for me to sit on! It was hard because size, stability, mass and team work were all so important. The 1/2 students began their plan for their animal habitat dioramas which crosses links with their inquiry topic, Living Things. They had to brainstorm who they would work with, what animal they would choose and what materials they will need to make it a success. We also discussed any challenges and how to overcome these as a team.
Year 3-6
This fortnight, the 3-6 students began their plan on CANVA to engineer a 3D model of a playground to show Mr Brettargh to convince him that we need a new and improved playground in the 3-6 area. They will work in groups to gather materials and engineer a 3D playground that includes equipment that is inclusive for all.
The 5/6 students began a CANVA engineering draft of their arcade games that they will create. They included all the materials they will need and discussed what challenges may arise. When the students are done building their arcade games, the 5/6 students will have to test them on some 1/2 students to see if they work!
The amazing students to receive an award this week are:
Saim Israr from 3/4 C for showing curiosity and persistence by making a working volcano at home to test at school!
Ali Elakoumi from 5/6B for showing respect and kindness when helping the lower years during all STEM sessions.
Physical Education [PE] is a tremendous way to get students active while also teaching them important life skills, improve their physical health, and develop a love for being active.
During PE, students will:
- focus on fundamental skills [e.g. running, catching, balance]
- play games to reinforce the skills
- foster social skills
- celebrate their efforts, building confidence and a love for sport.
Each session will have a:
- warm-up activity to get their muscles ready
- skill development activity
- fun game - teamwork and cooperation.
We have started PE this term by playing students’ favourite games, teaching the skill of running, and for the 5/6s playing Interschool Sports.
