‘Is There Anybody Out There’

‘Is There Anybody Out There’ is a facilitated Forum Theatre event in which actors remain in character throughout an exploration of intimate partner violence and its ripple effects within families and communities. The performance exposes the complex web of behaviours and justifications that enable intimate partner violence and coercive control to persist, prompting difficult but necessary conversations about power, control and silence.

Audience members engage directly with the characters, testing out interventions, support strategies and pathways to safety. By focusing on everyday choices and turning points within these stories, communities are empowered to recognise early warning signs and become active participants in prevention and support.

The College was fortunate on Tuesday, 12th August, to welcome the Actors’ Hub, who presented the show and provided a short interactive session for the school. Students were treated to a 30min excerpt from the performance, after which members of the Actors’ Hub joined them for lunch and further conversation.

On Wednesday evening, 13th August, a group of 38 students and staff attended the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre to experience the full show.

It was a great experience for both staff and students, with feedback overwhelmingly positive.

Year 12 Students

As mentioned two weeks ago, I have been meeting individually with each Year 12 student to review their progress towards achieving their WACE and to identify two or three key goals or areas of focus for their remaining time at the College.

This process is now complete, with all Year 12 students having had their individual meeting. Each student received a copy of their WACE Tracker Summary to share with parents/carers, so please check in with your child.

Information will also be provided to parents/carers via Compass, with follow-up contact made as required.

If you have any queries regarding your child’s progress towards their WACE, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a great weekend!
