Robotics

Year level: Prep
During Term Three, Prep students will explore robotics and coding using Beebots and Dash robots. They will learn to manually code the Beebots by identifying directions and pathways, troubleshooting any issues that arise. Students will engage with obstacle courses and robotic mats to develop their coding skills.
With Dash robots, students will learn to steer and control the robots using the Go and Path apps on iPads. They will also explore recording sounds, changing light colours, and creating challenges for their Dash robots to complete.
We are excited to introduce our youngest learners to the world of robotics and coding!
Year level: 3
Year Three students will begin their coding journey using the Scratch interface. They will create personalised maze-style video games, selecting their own sprites (characters) to navigate through the maze. Students can design multiple levels, with each level increasing in difficulty.
Their maze games will include obstacles, collectible objects for bonus points, and reset mechanics if the character touches the maze walls. After completing their maze games, students will have the opportunity to use Makey-Makey kits to create their very own video game controllers.
Year level: 4
Year Four students will continue their coding journey using the Scratch interface. They will design personalised maze-style video games, selecting their own sprites (characters) to navigate through challenging mazes. Students can create multiple levels, each increasing in difficulty as the game progresses.
Their maze games will feature obstacles, collectible objects for bonus points, and reset mechanics if the character touches the maze walls. After completing their maze games, students will have the opportunity to use Makey-Makey kits to build their very own video game controllers.
