Sport At Mullauna
08 November 2024
On Monday 28 October, Mullauna’s year 7 Boys Volleyball team, consisting of Elroy, Vitou, Joel, Andy, Ollie, Hon, Josh, Tom, Will and Alex, competed strongly at Regionals, held at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong. The team never gave up and played consistently as a team throughout the day, resulting in a respectable finish in fourth position in their pool. Special thanks to year 10 students Ryan, Henry and Noah, who generously donated their time and expertise at several lunchtime training sessions and for their help on the day itself.
The year 8 Girls Table Tennis team also featured in their respective Regional competition (held at Kilsyth Sport Centre), where they faced some tough opposition from Ringwood, Balwyn and Glen Waverley students. They never gave up! Every single player (Amelia, Marlie, Eleni, Ruby and Keeley) should be proud of the way in which they represented Mullauna with positivity, persistence and resilience, whilst remembering the importance of having fun and enjoying yourself!
Held at Mahoneys Reserve on Thursday 10 October, the year 7/8 Boys Cricket team remained undefeated throughout the entire day’s play in their 8-a-side matches against students from Ashwood, Auburn, Forest Hill and Templestowe. Thanks to the leadership and guidance provided by year 11 student (and one of the 2025 College Captains) Angus, who took on coaching responsibilities, and year 8 student James, who adopted the role of captain. The team subsequently progressed through to Regionals on Wednesday 30 October, however their opponents from Glen Waverley proved far too strong. Nonetheless, well done to all students and coaches involved for the infectious passion and enthusiasm for cricket that they showed!
The year 8 Boys Baseball team represented Mullauna against the best teams from the Eastern Metropolitan Region at Gilbert Park on Thursday 7 November, where the team (Nathan, Michael, Blake C, Ollie, Harlan, James, Alex, Lukas, Max, Michael, Harry, Blake V.P and Zaden) played with pride and passion in their 2 competitive, but ultimately unsuccessful matches. Special thanks to student coach Mike (year 9), who volunteered his time and who provided invaluable advice and knowledge to help lift the team’s overall performance.
