Captains Corner

Welcome to the Captain’s Corner, with Alyssia and Patrick!

These past two weeks have been quite busy. Every class has been doing Gymnastics in PE this week and last, it’s been really fun! We have also had many events this week involving Science! The Preps, the Year 1s and 2s, went to TwistEd Science. The Year 3s and 4s went to Scienceworks for a sleepover and Year 5 and Year 6 had a Science incursion with Mad About Science!

The Year 6s have also been busy getting ready for Graduation and high school. Last week and this week, we took part in Stonnington Council’s Transition Program. The presenters were really fun and brought prizes! In Art, we also started working on our backgrounds for the yearbook. We are also going to layer all of our favourite memories on top of our backgrounds. I can’t believe our time at St Joseph’s is nearly done!

On Monday, Years 5 and 6, had an incursion from Courage to Care. They came in to talk to us about being an ‘Upstander’ and what to do when you see someone being treated wrong. We even learned a bit about World War 2 and had someone tell us the story of how her Jewish parents escaped a Polish ghetto and survived the war by hiding in the forest. If you want to learn more, the Year 6s have written some reflections.

The next newsletter will be our last Captain’s Corner, we only have three more weeks left at school! That's all from these past two weeks!
