You can show some Christmas spirit by donating non-perishable food items, such as tinned food and fruit and Christmas items like fruit mince pies and Christmas cake.  Other hamper items include personal cleanliness consumables such as soaps, shampoos, tooth brushing kits and deodorants.  Hampers will be in each class.

Katich Moody Shield

Thursday, 7 November was a special day for the Trinity College Junior School ‘A’ Cricket Team as they played Guildford in the annual Katich Moody Shield.

The Katich Moody Shield is an annual event for Trinity College and Guildford Grammar. The game is played to acknowledge the outstanding careers of Simon Katich and Tom Moody, who represented Trintiy and Guildford respectively in cricket and had outstanding careers at club, domestic and international level, with both men representing Australia.

The Trinity College team consisted of.

  • Ben Parsons (Captain)
  • Joshua J Lim (Vice Captain)
  • Austin Guild (Vice Captain)
  • Luke Murdoch
  • Thayaavan Pirabanaathan
  • Samar Singh
  • Charlie Francis
  • Nicholas Jones
  • Sam O’Connor
  • Harry Healey
  • Michael Boyatzis

The Trinity side was captained by Ben Parsons, who was ably assisted by Austin Guild and Joshua J Lim as Vice-Captains. The team was presented by the First XI Cricket Team, with Captain Ben Parsons receiving a badge to recognise that he had been voted by his peers to lead the side.

Upon arriving at Guildford, we lost the toss and were asked to bat. Nicholas Jones and Sam O’Connor put on a very impressive 92 runs for the first wicket, setting the tone for the match. Sam finished with 36 runs, while Nicholas raised the bat with an unbeaten 50. Captain Ben Parsons and Luke Murdoch then took charge, with both players scoring 50 runs and pushing the total past 200. Some handy lower order hitting from Charlie Francis and Michael Boyatzis, who also finished not out on 50, helped the team to an impressive total of 308.

Our bowling innings began with some very economical bowling from Joshua J Lim and Harry Healey, who built pressure through consistent offside deliveries. Luke Murdoch was the first to strike, with Austin Guild providing tidy work behind the stumps. Captain Ben Parsons then dismissed one of Guildford’s danger players, and shortly after, Harry Healey removed their best batsman, thanks to a brilliant catch from Josh J Lim on the boundary. Thayaavan Pirabanaathan cleaned up the tail and, at one point, was on a hat-trick, finishing with 3 wickets. Trinty emerged victorious, winning by just under 200 runs.

This game is always a highlight on the Junior School calendar. It was played in great spirits, with excellent sportsmanship from both sides. A big thank you to Guildford for hosting the day, and to the parents who came out to support their sons.

We look forward to defending our shield in 2025.

Year 6 Junior School Transition Morning

On Friday, 1 November the Year 6 students from the Junior School spent the morning on the Senior School campus, preparing themselves for high school life in 2025. As they watched the new Year 4s filter into the Junior School, full of nerves, they took their own nerves and excitement and made their way over to Centenary Park where they met the Year 7 Transition Coordinator, Mr. Ryan Redfern. After a brief chat with 2024 Head Prefect, Jamie D’Agostino, the boys made their way to Mr. Redfern’s classroom where they started to learn all about being a ‘Man for Others’ on the Senior School campus and listened to how high school is going to be different and exciting compared to primary school. While they were in that activity, they met their new Head of Year, Ms. Rebecca Bryant who told them all about her role as their Head of Year and how excited she was to meet the group of 83 boys who were going to be the ‘big brothers’ for the Year 7s who join us in 2025 from other schools around the state.

After the introductory activity, the boys participated in three rotational sessions – a very entertaining English lesson with Ms. Su-Fen Chung, a very informative Mathematics lesson with Mrs. Roberta Lawrence and a less formal Q&A, getting to know each other transition session with Ms. Rebecca Bryant. This was interspersed with a recess break where the boys could wander around the Senior School and chat with the older boys that they knew. It was wonderful to see the older boys welcome the Year 6s so generously and the Year 6s engage with the older boys in return.

At the end of Period 3 (high school time), the Year 6s returned to the Junior School with a heightened sense of excitement for what is to come in 2025!

Thank you to Mr. Ryan Redfern for organizing such a smooth and enjoyable experience for teachers and students alike and we whole-heartedly look forward to welcoming the Year 7s to our side of the College on Orientation Day this Monday and at the beginning of the academic year in 2025.
