Environment and Sustainability

The students have been very busy in the garden this term tending to the herbs, vegetables and orchard. You may have noticed our beautiful new signs made by the Grade 6 students adding some colour and love to our kitchen garden, they really light up our garden. During the garden club the students have planted sunflower seeds and watched them grow into seedlings, they have tended to the garden ensuring it is watered and kept the weeds at bay.

The Grade 6 Environment and Sustainability leaders have done an amazing job managing the Rubbish-Free lunches program. Well done to all the students bringing Rubbish-Free lunches.

The winner of the award this term was Grade 2 SH followed by 2GB and 2AH. The sustainability leaders noted that we have doubled figures from last year. Well done Grade 2 and everyone!

A big thanks to our leaders this year who have supported all of the environment programs. They have been an asset in supporting the garden club along with other leaders. We also have to thank our amazing volunteer, Yvonne who tends to the garden and brings her passion, knowledge and connection to support our school kitchen garden. We are very appreciative of her support.

The garden will enjoy a much needed rest over the summer and we look forward to being back in the garden next year.

The Year Six students worked in groups in Visual Arts to create new signs for the garden. We have a total of 18 new signs to brighten up our already beautiful garden. Our Amazing garden is cared for by Trish Magree and the garden club along with volunteer Yvonne.
