We are learning to round numbers to reasonably estimate the answer of addition and subtraction problems. 

VOCABULARY

Estimate: roughly calculating or judging a number or value.

Solve: to find a solution.

Round: making a number simpler but keeping its value close to what it was.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Give your child a budget to plan one meal for the week. 

Using a grocery catalogue, support them to round up or down to the nearest dollar and estimate the cost of the ingredients needed. 

Compare this to the actual cost of the ingredients.
