Senior School News Yr 5/6
Mr Tom Brophy (5/6B), Miss Carrie Kudelka (5/6K) & Miss Chelsea Perrin (5/6P)
As we dive headfirst into the final stretch of Term 4, our 5/6 students have been showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, and determination across all areas of learning.
Here's a snapshot of what we've been up to:
Literacy
Our budding historians have been busy bringing the past to life through their historical narrative writing. Using their research on a chosen historical moment, students have explored the time period, significant perspectives, and key individuals involved. This detailed understanding has allowed them to craft rich sensory details, vivid character descriptions, and engaging plot diagrams. Each narrative is told from the perspective of a real historical figure, and we can't wait to see their final pieces!
Mathematics
The 5/6s have been flexing their algebraic muscles as they wrap up their unit on algebra. They've been solving equations, mastering the order of operations, and expanding and simplifying expressions. Students have also been finding and extending patterns, a skill that has challenged them. We’re so proud of their growth and perseverance with these advanced concepts.
Religious Education
In RE, our students have been exploring Christian social justice issues such as caring for the environment, promoting equality, and fostering inclusion. Their thoughtful posters reflect their understanding and commitment to these values. This week, we've also begun the season of Advent, a time of reflection and preparation. Each day, students are adding to our Jesse Tree, marking the journey towards Christmas in a meaningful way.
