Middle School News-Yr 3/4

Learning in 3/4 this week:

In the lead-up to Christmas, our students have been reflecting on the season of Advent, a time of preparation, hope, and anticipation for the coming of Christ. Through meaningful discussions and activities, they have explored the deeper significance of Advent, focusing on themes such as generosity, kindness, and service to others.

A key highlight has been learning about the Advent wreath, a beautiful symbol of faith. Students discovered the meaning behind its circular shape, evergreen branches, and candles, which represent the unending love of God, eternal life, and the light of Christ. Each candle was explored in detail, with students reflecting on the virtues of hope, peace, joy, and love as we prepare our hearts for Christmas.

This journey has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of their faith and connect with the values of the season in a personal and impactful way.

Our students have been diving into the exciting world of geometry, exploring key mathematical concepts such as area, perimeter, and angles. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, they have been measuring spaces, and calculating dimensions. In their studies of area and perimeter, students have  explored angles, learning to identify, measure, and classify them as acute, obtuse, or right, while discovering how angles fit into the structure of shapes and patterns.

Our students have embraced the role of researchers, delving into the history and evolution of everyday items. From communication devices to modes of transport, they have been exploring how these innovations have transformed over time to meet the needs of society.
