Prep students have made a brilliant start to Italian. Students have been displaying their enthusiasm and have learnt how to greet and respond to a simple conversational phrase Come ti chiami?  Mi chiamo ….  My name is ….

Students are often engaging with me, using their newly formed  Italian greetings and statements in the playground.

Prep students are learning to count to ten through ball games and regular oral work.

They are learning to sing the Ciao, Buongiorno, Come stai? Song, and thoroughly enjoy learning through playing games and craft activities.

Grade 1 students are revising basic conversational language, numbers to 20 and colours.

Grade 1 students are continuing to learn the names of the days of the week along with correct pronunciation.

Grade 2 students have worked with great enthusiasm and to the best of their abilities to complete set tasks.

Students have been revising some common instructional language ie Capsici? Do you all understand? Si capsico yes I understand, sediti - all sit down, batti le mani - everyone clap hands, guardate -everyone look, ascolate - everyone listen, in piedi - on your feet, facciamo un cerchio - everyone make a circle, scrivete il nome e classe - write your name and grade. etc.

Year 3/4 students have extended their learning of numbers and counting in Italian.

This will lead to our topic of ‘Che ore sono?’ (What time is it?) where students will be learning how to say the time in Italian, through singing songs, playing maths games and making their own Italian clocks. They will also begin learning about Il Corpo (The Body) which will continue into Term 3. Ottimo!

The Year 5/6 students have been focusing on personal profiles and conversational Italian.

The students will also be learning about Le Regioni D’Italia (The Regions of Italy) and their famous landmarks. They will be working on a Google Slides project, focussing on one region, using various forms of texts to research many aspects about their region, such as Le Attrazioni Turistiche (Tourist Atrractions), Il Cibo (Food) and L’Economia (The Economy).
